The new Clydebank Health and Care Centre took one step closer to completion with the keys for the £21.7m state-of-the-art building now handed over to NHSGGC to be fitted out.

The new Centre, at Queen’s Quay, will open in early February and will offer the Clydebank community access to a wide range of health and social care services under one roof for the first time.

The project is being delivered by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, West Dunbartonshire HSCP and West Dunbartonshire Council in partnership with hub West Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust. Anderson Bell Christie were the chosen architects for the project, with funding provided by the Scottish Government.

Health Board chairman John Brown said: “I am delighted this fantastic new Health and Care Centre has been handed over to us for final commissioning.

“Very soon it will be home to six GP practices and community health and care services including Speech and Language Therapy, Antenatal Clinics, Community Paediatric Clinics, Podiatry and Sexual Health.

“I have every confidence that the people of Clydebank will be equally pleased with the result when it opens in a few weeks.”

West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership Chief Officer, Beth Culshaw, and health board chair John Brown.

West Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership Chief Officer, Beth Culshaw, said: “We are very excited to be moving into this beautiful new building in such a historic site.  It offers us real opportunities to work more closely with GPs and it will also provide space for Third Sector and community groups to offer support and information to local people.

“Together with the Vale Health and Care Centre, which opened in 2013, this provides the people of West Dunbartonshire with fantastic modern facilities, fit for the future delivery of integrated health and care services.”

Finally, Iain Marley, CEO of hub West Scotland, said: “The completion of this landmark facility is a hugely significant milestone in the development of the Queen’s Quay Masterplan, and we are immensely grateful to everyone who has contributed to achieve this brilliant outcome.

“The design and delivery of the new facility has benefited from the experience gained through the tremendously successful programme of seven health and care centres for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.”
