Network Rail engineers have been working around the clock since Friday morning, with buses replacing trains between Dumbarton Central and Balloch
Trains between Dumbarton and Balloch were back up and running yesterday, according to Network Rail.

The line north of Dalreoch was closed on Friday following reports of a collapsed culvert in the Balloch area which required “urgent repairs to the track”.

Replacement buses have been running between Dumbarton Central and Balloch, calling at Renton and Alexandria, since Friday morning.

The hope had been that services would resume late on Friday but it soon became clear that the problem was more serious than originally thought, and work continued through the weekend and again on Monday.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Our team has been working around-the-clock to repair a culvert underneath the track between Balloch and Dalreoch.  Repair work is progressing well and we expect the line to reopen first thing on Tuesday.

“We’d like to apologise for the inconvenience this disruption may have caused over the weekend and thank all passengers and lineside neighbours for their patience and understanding while we carry out this essential work.”
