POLICE: Appeal following attempted murder in West Dunbartonshire

By Bill Heaney

Police are appealing for information following an attempted murder which occurred in the Crown Avenue area of Clydebank on Tuesday, 15 March, 2022.
A white Toyota C-HR car was deliberately driven at a 31-year-old man around 6.30pm on Crown Avenue.
The man was not injured and the car was driven off in the direction of Kilbowie Road.
Detective Inspector Samantha Glasgow, of Clydebank CID, said: “This was a deliberate act and it is fortunate that the man did not sustain injuries as a result.
“We are asking anyone who was in the Crown Avenue area around the time of the incident and may have seen what happened or have dash-cam footage of the incident, or of the car involved, to get in touch.
“Anyone with information that could help with our investigation is urged to please call us.

The assessment work is being carried out by Police Scotland prior to potential search work being undertaken to establish if Lynda’s remains are within this area.

Meanwhile, Officers investigating the murder of Lynda Spence in 2011 are carrying out a detailed assessment of a remote area near Dunoon, Argyll.

Detective Superintendent Suzanne Chow, of the Major Investigation Team, said: “This detailed work, involves Police Scotland detectives, local policing officers and specialist search teams, supported by forensic scientists and experts from across the United Kingdom.

“The operation is expected to take some considerable time due to the nature of the ground and remote location.

“Lynda’s family have been informed of this development and officers are supporting them during this difficult time. We will keep them updated as the work continues.

“There will be a significant police presence in the area as this operation continues and I would like to thank the local community for their co-operation at this time.

“I would ask anyone with information to please come forward and speak to officers.”

In 2013, two men were sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of murdering Lynda, of Glasgow, at a house in West Kilbride, Ayrshire. Her body had not been recovered.
