Magaret Simons appointed to the Scott Trust : The Scott Trust, shareholder of Guardian Media Group, has this week announced the appointment of journalist and author Margaret Simons to its board.
An award-winning journalist, author, and journalism academic, Dr Simons is an Honorary Principal Fellow at the Centre for Advancing Journalism, part of the University of Melbourne and was a founding director of Australia’s Public Interest Journalism Initiative from 2018 until 2021. She is also a founding director of the hyperlocal journalism startup *PS Media and holds a Doctorate in Creative Arts from the University of Technology Sydney.
Ole Jacob Sunde, chair of The Scott Trust, said: “Margaret is an outstanding thinker and writer on the media’s role in society.  Her wide experience and knowledge of journalism and her international perspective will further strengthen the Scott Trust’s expertise in these areas and we are pleased to welcome her.”

Booking is now open for Women in Journalism’s upcoming events which include. amongst others, What Women Journalists Face to Ensure the Truth is Told on October 3rd and a panel discussion on Menopause in the Newsroom on October 5.
The event on 3 October will kick-off the The Daphne Festival in honour of the fifth anniversary since the murder of Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. The event will hear from Galizia’s son as well as Rana Ayyub, an Indian investigative journalist and opinion columnist with The Washington Post and Rebecca Vincent, Director of Operations and Campaigns at Reporters Without Border.
