There’s a terrific exhibition about Dumbarton FC’s history and their players to mark the former Boghead club’s 150th anniversary. It is happening at the Library and Heritage Centre in Strathleven Place and these pictures, which I have just found on my files, feature the late, great Tim Whalen, the inside right in that famous Sons team of the 1950’s whose forward line was Brown, Whalen, Gallagher, Gibson and Heaney. The exhibition is open now and it’s FREE to attend. Provost Douglas McAllister and Sons chairman Dr Neil Mackay, pictured below, did the honours last Wednesday evening. The programme pictures are from the centenary dinner at the County Buildings in Dumbarton in 1972.
