HERITAGE: Skylark IX ‘Hope Floats’ Exhibition

Until Saturday 31 December, 2022

Scottish Maritime Museum (Denny Tank) , Castle Street, Dumbarton

Follow Skylark’s fascinating story from launching as a pleasure boat in 1934 through her wartime service and final sinking in 2010 up to her new role today inspiring and changing the lives of people recovering from addictions across West Dunbartonshire.

The exhibition also celebrates the achievements of the Skylark IX Recovery Project over the last two years made possible by a National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) award in 2018.

The NLHF award has enabled the Dumbarton-based Project to plan vital work to help stabilise Skylark’s condition and deliver boat building training for Alternatives Community-based Recovery Service and Dumbarton Area Council on Alcohol clients. The Project also delivers therapeutic arts and heritage projects for people across the community.

  1. I volunteered with Alternatives 2011-15, when they first dragged that out of the Leven. It was used during the Evacuation of Dunkirk, 1940. We were “fighting the Nazis” at that point….from a safe distance across the English Channel. Meanwhile, contrary to all of the Cold War lies you swallowed, Stalin and the Red Army fought and won Victory in Europe on the Eastern Front and when they raised the Hammer and Sickle over the Reichstag in Berlin, 1945; giving the world one of the happiest moments in human history. See my avi. Of course, not to be outdone in the sheer insanity, lunacy and inhumanity stakes, the Brits are now backing the Nazis in Ukraine….against the Russians. The magnitude of Brit lies and deception knows no bounds. They backed the Nazis before WW2 and they continued to back them after WW2. It’s better if they are “our nutters.” That’s tough because the Russians are knocking hell out of you and them again. https://youtu.be/gUVcGJLXJFA
