Clyde 1 v Dumbarton 3
DUMBARTON have secured a place in round four of the Scottish Cup after a 3-1 win away to Clyde at New Douglas Park.
Sons thought they had made a great start in only six minutes when Gregor Buchanan headed home from a corner, but the goal was ruled out for a foul.
But they had the lead on 19 minutes when David Wilson hooked home a shot from close range after a Joe McKee effort spun away from goal.
And on 36 minutes it was 2-0. Ryan Wallace had missed earlier with a header but converted a Gregg Wylde cross from close range.
Just before half time, goalkeeper Brett Long was on form, turning over a free kick from distance from Ray Grant.
The visitors’ lead could have been greater before the home side had a route back into the game on 64 minutes when Oliver McDonald converted at close range from a swerving cross.
The remaining minutes of the game were fraught, although with no serious saves for Sons’ keeper Long to make.
But in the fourth minute of injury time, Sons could relax, Ross MacLean (pictured) cutting inside to fire home a deflected shot to make it 3-1.
The league campaign resumes next Saturday away to Bonnyrigg Rose.
BUCHANAN RECOVERING WELL
Monday 28th November 2022
MANAGER Stevie Farrell has reported that defender Gregor Buchanan is recovering well from the head knock which forced him out of Saturday’s game against Clyde.
The popular centre half, who has scored four goals this season, had to leave the action after 75 minutes at New Douglas Park after landing awkwardly from an aerial tussle.
But we are pleased to note that Gregor is recovering well. We will monitor his recovery through the week and if it is sufficient, we hope to have him available to face Bonnyrigg Rose this Saturday.
