Future of Royal Reporting at SoE conference

The future of royal reporting will form a key discussion at the Society of Editors upcoming March annual conference, it has been announced today.
The high-profile one-day event, which brings together more than 200 leading editors and journalists from all sectors of the UK news media, will take place on 15 March 2023 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel, London City.
Speakers confirmed for the royal debate include Camilla Tominey, Associate Editor covering politics and the royals at The Daily Telegraph, Roya Nikkhah, Royal Editor at The Sunday Times, Russell Myers, Royal Editor at the Daily Mirror and Catherine Mayer, Journalist and Author of the bestselling biography of King Charles III: ‘Charles: The Heart of a King.’

National Security Bill

The Society has this week joined a coalition of global media and press freedom organisations urging the government to review its National Security Bill amid “serious concerns” around the impact the proposals will have on public interest journalism and whistle-blowers.

Editors’ Code Consultation

The Editors’ Code of Practice, to which the vast majority of Britain’s newspaper, magazine and news website journalists work, has announced a public consultation. Held every three years, anyone wishing to submit suggestions on how the Code may be revised has until 31st March to do so.
