Local health board, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, says it’s proud to be supporting Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023 taking place from Monday March 6th to Friday March 10th.
NHSGGC offers a range of inclusive apprenticeship programmes across various disciplines within the organisation to help young people kick start their career within the health board and the week aims to highlight the value and benefits of apprenticeships for individuals, employers and the wider economy.
As Scotland’s largest employer, NHSGGC is committed to support the development of the future workforce by offering roles in areas such as healthcare, administration, business and engineering.
During Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023, NHSGGC will be showcasing success stories of our apprentices as well as highlighting opportunities available to anyone looking to pursue an apprenticeship.
Anne MacPherson, Director of Human resources at NHSGGC, said: “Apprenticeships form a key element of our workforce and we are proud to be support Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023.
“Our health board offers fantastic opportunities for individuals to gain invaluable skills that will help develop their careers within the organisation.
“The programmes offer the chance for individuals to undergo on the job training while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.”
This week, the board will highlight some of our apprentices and how they have developed and will showcase some of the exciting new apprenticeship opportunities we will be recruiting to in the next few months.
Anne added: “We are committed to providing the best possible healthcare for our patients and our apprentices play a crucial role in delivering that aim.
“Throughout this week, we are looking forward to showcasing that talent that has developed as a result of our apprenticeship programme.”
Our Apprentices are paid at least the Scottish Living Wage with many earning above that level and are NHS Employees with the same benefits, allowances, annual leave entitlement and pension as all our staff.
Our Apprenticeships are open to anyone living in Scotland aged between 16 and 24 years, or to the age of 29 for those who are care experienced or have a disability.
