SONS: DUMBARTON 0 FORFAR ATHLETIC 1

Dumbarton FC CrestDUMBARTON LOSE TO FORFAR

DUMBARTON have missed the opportunity to resume top spot in cinch League Two after losing 1-0 at home to Forfar Athletic.

After an even start to the game, Sons were awarded a penalty on 17 minutes when Andy Munro fouled Finlay Gray in the box.

But Ally Love’s kick was turned wide by the visiting goalkeeper.

The home side enjoyed plenty of the ball for the remainder of the first half, but were kept out by an organised visiting defence.

Early in the second half, a Russell McLean shot was cleared off the line after a brilliant run by Gray.

Forfar took the lead on 62 minutes when Seb Ross converted a cross from the right.

A second effort by McLean, this time a close range header, was then cleared off the line and from the resulting corner, the same player glanced wide.

Despite a lot of possession and no little effort, Sons failed to equalise. They are back in action at home this Saturday, against Stenhousemuir, kick-off 3pm.

There were no tasty treats for Sons’ fans at the Rock on Saturday when Dumbarton went down one nil to Forfar Athletic.
