Archbishop Bill Nolan has accepted the resignation from the Office of Parish Priest of Saint Brendan’s, Yoker, of Father Joseph McAuley on reaching the age of 75.
The Archbishop has appointed Father Ezra Dauda, on loan from the Diocese of Minna, Nigeria, as Administrator of Saint Brendan’s parish. The appointment takes effect from 1st June 2023.
The prayers and good wishes of parishioners past and present will accompany Fr Joe in this new chapter of his priestly life, a Church spokesperson said..
Father Joe is the son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth Hart, of Barloan Crescent, Dumbarton. He was a solicitor in Paisley before before studying for the priesthood.
Archbishop Nolan has also made the following appointments which were announced at the weekend in the parishes involved.
Father Joe McAuley, Father Ross Campbell and Canon Gerry Conroy.
The appointments take effect from the beginning of August. Canon Gerard Conroy, parish priest of Saint Patrick’s, Dumbarton and Saint Peter’s Dumbarton is to be parish priest of Turnbull Hall Parish and Chaplain to the University of Glasgow.
