The #NationalMotorcycleUnit spoke to several riders and drivers today on Loch Lomondside and Argyll. Issues identified included inappropriate speed, showing poor observations and we offered advice on the benefits of wearing protective clothing. Everyone has a part to play in making our roads safer.
Please drive/ride safe

Please help us keep Luss and Loch Lomond beautiful. We love that you are enjoying visiting our fabulous communities during this fantastic weather spell but we ask that you please show consideration and respect to the local community by picking up your litter and disposing of it responsibly. If the bins are full, take it home with you. If you decide to go into the weater then remember all the rules about wild swimming and staying safe. Together, we can be proud of our National Parks and rural communities.

The A82 is currently closed in both directions near Luss, following a road crash, which took place around 6.50pm.
Emergency services remain at the scene and motorists are advised to avoid the area. Diversions are in place.

Tbh there’s been more serious crashes from bowling roundabout to Erskine bridge. Only section of A82 that’s national speed limit (70mph). Several driveways where you need to stop to go in. Drivers don’t expect this then hit you. There’s also an unprotected footpath on one side. I could have been killed in December as someone hit me at 70mph as I was going into my drive. The new chevrons are just ignored, just make this 3 mile section a 50 mph at most.
David Nicol 100% agree with you on this. That stretch of A82 should not be a national limit. Footpaths, slip roads, entrance/exits from property, exit from a quarry used by LGV’s and its the main arterial route to the north and west all mean it should be lower.
David Nicol more serious crashes?? My friend was the biker in the crash, he isn’t going to make it. So what’s more serious than someone losing their life? But yeah I agree with you regarding the 70 stretch. I was on it last week, paying attention to the chevrons and some daft old bird pulled in right in front of me because she thought the space was there for her to nip in. Just as well I reacted quickly.
Michael Smith don’t need cameras on it. Folk just need to learn to drive better. Honestly see the state half of them going 40 in a national speed limit. Pulling out of lay-bys without looking both ways etc.
