Alcohol deaths are at their highest point since 2008. A new analysis by Alcohol Focus Scotland, shows access to specialist alcohol treatment has dropped by 40 per cent over the past 10 years.
Scottish Labour Health spokesperson Jackie Baillie, pictured right, said: “Once again we are seeing the tragic cost of the SNP’s cut, right, s to drug and alcohol services.
“The collapse of specialist treatment has no doubt cost lives and destroyed many more.
“This cannot continue – the SNP must stop relying on sticking plaster solutions and start treating this public health crisis with the urgency it deserves before more lives are needlessly lost.”
