Drovers Inn at Inverarnan on A82 is one of Loch Lomond’s most interesting pubs

It’s one of Scotland’s most famous pubs, surrounded by some of the country’s most incredible scenery and offering a proper Highland welcome.

And, not only is it thought to be one of the UK’s most haunted locations, it’s also just been named as one of its prettiest.

The shortlist, compiled by the experts at Big House Experience, analysed Instagram hashtag data for over 200 country pubs that have been named as ‘beautiful’ in reputable publications over the past two years.

Those with the highest number of Instagram hashtags associated with their name were crowned the prettiest, as they have been shared so much on social media.

And the highest-placing entry for Scotland, was the Drovers Inn, which can be found near Ardlui and close to Loch Lomond.

The historic pub with rooms is among the oldest licensed premises in Scotland and was first opened back in 1705 as a place to stay and refuel for the cattle drovers who gave it its name.

Found in the small hamlet of Inverarnan, it’s not far from Glasgow and well worth the trip.

The perfect base camp for exploring the surrounding Loch Lomond and Trossachs Country Park, it’s also ideal who love to enjoy things on the spookier side of the spectrum with plenty of reported ghosts said to stalk its rooms.

Don’t worry there is plenty of spirits to be found behind the bar too, with great beers too and a food menu packed with tasty food.

Even better, as you’d expect with a Highland inn, you’ll also find live music at the weekend, adding to the already excellent atmosphere.
