The World Cycling Championships were halted this morning after eco protesters glued themselves on the road.
Organisers were forced to stop the men’s road race on Sunday after the protesters blocked a narrow stretch of the B818 in the Carron Valley area at around 11.20am.
The 271-kilometre men’s elite road race was stopped on a small climb around 192 kilometres before the finish in Glasgow.
Eco protest group This Is Rigged has claimed responsibility for the disruption with four of their members glue-ing themselves to the road.
Live stream footage shows sawdust had been poured over the area of the protest before the race was allowed to restart at around 12.15, roughly 50 minutes after the race was blocked off.
