WEATHER WARNING: BEWARE OF BETTY BLAST ON ITS WAY HERE

Scotland issued ‘danger to life’ weather warning as Storm Betty could bring 70mph gusts

Scotland has been issued two weather warnings ahead of very strong winds associated with Storm Betty.

BBC Scotland weather forecaster Carol Kirkwood, pictured above,  told television viewers that Meterin has flagged up that stormy downpours are heading to Scotland this weekend and the bad weather starts tonight with a wind warning. Dumfries and Galloway have been issued a wind warning starting 6pm as winds up to 70mph could be a ‘danger to life’.

On Saturday, a larger rain warning stretching from south west Scotland to the north east is in effect from 3am. The heavy downpours across the country will be accompanied by ‘strong and gusty’ winds as high as 40mph.
