It was lovely to be invited to the first SareeThon in Glasgow on Sunday afternoon, which included fantastic performances by a flashmob.
As the first Indian woman to become a member of the Scottish Parliament I wore a tartan saree while taking my oath. Wearing the tartan saree allowed me to share and embrace my deep connection to both Scotland
and India
on such a special day.

It was great to see such a large turnout with the ladies and girls wearing beautiful sarees in a variety of colours and designs.
A huge thank you to Glasgow Indians and Ethnic Minority Forum East Dunbartonshire for organising the event celebrating the Indian women living in Scotland that are proud of their heritage and cultural traditions.
I’m already looking forward to next year
