Tullichewan Tenants & Residents Association August update

Tullichewan Tenants & Residents Association update for August by Chairman Harry McCormackMay be an image of 1 person

The dry weather was not forthcoming but no matter as the Family Fun Day at the Lomond Parish Church was a great success, nonetheless. Co-hosted with Central Alexandria TRA (CATRA), the day was filled with games for the family, various stalls and a free tea/coffee and snack bar with seating. A fund raising tombola with assorted prizes for children and adults was also included. Provost Douglas McAllister and Councillor Hazel Sorrell attended as support and Anne Dann of the Lomond Parish Church assisted with the teas/coffees. On behalf of Tullichewan TRA I would like to thank everyone involved (including CATRA) with special acknowledgements to Lomond Parish Church (Mary Sweetland) for their hospitality. It is venue I highly recommend for community events. Over £50 was raised for the Tullichewan Community Fund. An article of the event will be published in the next WDC Housing News.

As this update is being drafted, WDC Greenspace are making repairs to the damaged surface at the children’s play park at Bannachra Crescent with the replacement of the basket swing to follow. Extra patrols from WDC Anti-Social Behaviour Team and the Community Police has been arranged to deter further vandalism.

On behalf of Tullichewan TRA, congratulations to the Time for Tully group for the successful installation of a new children’s sport area at the greenspace area at Bannachra Crescent. Working in partnership with WDC Greenspace and support from Councillor Hazel Sorrell, it is a welcome addition for children area as Tullichewan is limited in options for things to do in the community. Time for Tully are also busy arranging future events such as trip to the Science Centre in Glasgow, which as been well received. Time for Tully have their own Facebook group for further information. Well done to Nicola, Kim, Nicky and everyone involved in the group.
