Training Academy Introduction: River City sits at the heart of Scotland’s ever-growing TV production landscape and is seen as a rite of passage for anyone wanting to break into the world of television in Scotland.

Designed by BBC Studios, in partnership with Screen Scotland, River City is about to embark on a first-of-its-kind Training Academy. Our mission is to upskill and train new and creative talent to become an asset to the show and the Scottish TV Production Industry.

Training Academy Brief

The River City Training Academy is already underway with its first group of trainees and we’re looking for a new cohort to start in January 2024.

The Academy features an initial three-week training period, which features both classroom and practical training at the River City studio in Dumbarton. Learning will be tailored to each specific role and both the Training Manager and Heads of Department will continue to oversee and support each trainees’ progress.

Beyond the initial three weeks’ training, Trainees will have the opportunity to work with experienced trainers and professionals in their respective fields, shadowing the best in the business, gaining hands-on experience and preparing them for future roles on the production.

We’re looking for applicants who have a keen and active interest in the world of TV production; are hardworking; creative; keen; willing to learn; and are looking for their first step into the world of television.

If you’re worried about having little to no experience, not to worry! All we ask is – for the majority of roles – that you have a keen interest and/or limited experience in the roles you indicate you’re interested in.
