BAILLIE WELCOME MEMBERS OF THE CLERGY TO DUMBARTON MUNICIPAL BUILDINGS

By Lucy Ashton

Dame Jackie Baillie recently welcomed members of clergy from the Scottish Episcopal Church’s United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway as they visited Dumbarton.

The Dumbarton MSP joined the group at the town’s Municipal Buildings where they were treated to a talk by West Dunbartonshire Council’s Lead Officer for Local History and Archives, William Henderson.

A talk was given by the Council’s Lead Officer for Local History and Archives, William Henderson.

He explained the origins of the building and the wider history of Dumbarton and answered questions from members of the clergy including about Dumbarton Castle.

Mr Henderson spoke about the historical artifacts including paintings which are located within the Municipal Buildings.

The visit was organised by Ms Baillie following contact with the Rev Heller Gonzalez of St Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Dumbarton and Bishop Kevin Pearson was among the members who attended.

Dame Jackie said: “It was a pleasure to welcome members of clergy from the Scottish Episcopal Church’s United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway. I do hope that they enjoyed their visit to Dumbarton and I want to thank the Rev Heller Gonzalez for involving me in this.

“My thanks also go to William Henderson from West Dunbartonshire Council for his interesting talk about the history of the building and of the town which I am sure all of those in attendance will have enjoyed.”
