It’s 55 years and 1 month since Vale last took on Auchinleck Talbot. On Saturday 19th October 1968 at Beechwood Park, Vale defeated the Ayrshire side by 3 goals to 1 in the opening round of the West of Scotland Cup.Vale goalscorers that day were 20 year old striker DREW BUSBY with a double and 17 year old ALAN CRAIG. The team also featured 18 year old Columb McKinley and young goalkeeper JIM LIDDELL who had just turned 16 two months previous.
