Gearing up for the festive holidays the Tory MP had a sing-song at the SNP’s expense with jibes at Peter Murrell’s car, police investigations and budget spending

Penny Mordaunt MP has delivered a festive takedown of the SNP’s Deidre Brock who challenged her on morality once again, only to be met with a twist on Twelve Days of Christmas.

Confronting her SNP rival in the House of Commons, Ms Mordaunt was told “pantomime season is truly upon us” after her scathing assessment of the nationalists morality at last week’s interaction.

Taking on the challenge, the Tory MP told the chamber “I think we should have a festive round-up of the SNP’s morality”.

Launching into the ‘song’, she said: “12 hours of police questioning, 11 grand roaming charges, 10 years without school inspections, nine sham embassies, eight years of poor child mental health, seven years without ferries, six years shirking welfare powers, £500 million overspent on Edinburgh’s trams. Four million to install a heat pump, three high profile arrests, two overseas jollies and a dodgy Jaguar EV.”

Even Ms Brock couldn’t help but smile. Ms Mordaunt said: “I have succeeded in bringing a smile to her face. And I must thank her for the being the gift that keeps on giving at business questions. I hope that in 2024 better things are destined for the Scottish people…”

Ms Brock said: “Last week the leader was unwilling or unable to answer my question about her government’s latest immigration mess. Instead, she gave Scots another lecture from Westminster. This time about morality and her own global leadership.

“Or is it the morality that allows water companies to make a fortune in profits as children get sick swimming in raw sewage off the coast of England?

“Or is it about the families of service personnel who are forced to live in quarters so riddled with damp allow they were judged too poor it for human habitation? Maybe that’s the morality she had in mind.”

To this, Ms Mordaunt said: “I think this very week, Scotland’s SNP have announced that Scotland’s national care service is going to be pushed back by three years, she mentioned the armed forces.

“It’s her government that are insisting on them paying higher tax, this government that is compensating them for that.

“And if she wants to go and find Victorian levels of rats and rickets, she should go to the SNP run local authorities.”
