Fancy some colour, culture and maybe a cup of tea?
Why not pop down to Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum this weekend?
A good place to start would be the Scottish Colourists gallery on the first floor. There you will find decorative interiors, landscapes, seascapes and bold still-lifes.
Or if it’s winter sun you’re after, you might like Peploe’s painting of the French seaside resort Berneval-le-Grand. Painted out of doors, this one was done fairly quickly, but you get the idea – warm sunshine, holiday makers, beach and sea.
One observer said: “Glasgow has the most fantastic art collection. I was first taken to “The Art Galleries” in 1950. I think the collection is, in international terms, underrated. The illustrations, better than many of the contemporary European works.
“It may be cold and wet outside but it’s warm in Kelvingrove and there’s always lots to see.”
