Patients and carers asked to share experience of Valproate medication

By Lucy Ashton

Do you or someone you care for use Valproate? If so, we want to hear from you.

Valproate is a medicine used in the management of Epilepsy and in Bipolar Disorder.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is looking for those with direct experience of Valproate, either as a patient or carer, to share their experience.

We want to recruit up to 10 volunteers for a group to help us implement new regulations and guidelines for sodium valproate, valproic acid and valproate semisodium (valproate), in line with national guidance from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Your insight and experience will help us better understand what we need to do to make sure these new measures are implemented in a person-centred, safe and effective way.

You will be invited to take part in 4-6 meetings between April and November 2024, with the possibility of additional sessions if required.

Meetings will be mostly held online, and full support to participate will be provided.

If you wish to register your interest in joining the Patient Reference Group, or have any questions, please contact Lisa Martin, Patient Experience Public Involvement Manager at Public.involvement@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

We will get back to you as quickly as possible with more information.
