We are so excited to announce our first author events for 2024, with a brand-new strand called The Front List.In partnership with Underbelly, these events will take place in the iconic McEwan Hall, just a short walk from our main site at Edinburgh Futures Institute, throughout August. These nine events will feature a range of best-selling writers and will go on sale 25 April from 10am – our fullprogramme is still under wraps until 4 June. Get to know our Front List below:
Alan Cumming & Forbes Masson, 10 August
Legendary 80s comedy duo and stars of the popular sitcom ‘The High Life’, will share someunheard, hilarious tales from Victor and Barry’s Kelvinside Compendium.
James O’Brien, 12 August
Radio presenter, podcaster, and LBC presenter, James O’Brien, will join us to give insight into the current state of the UK with his new book How They Broke Britain.
Alice Oseman, 13 August
Cult favourite author of Heartstopper – now a smash-hit Netflix series – will be returning to the Festival to talk all things love, heartbreak,andfriendship.
Dolly Alderton, 14 August
Known for her hit memoir, Everything I Know About Love – beloved journalist, author, and podcaster, Dolly Alderton, will join us to discuss her achingly funny second novel Good Material.
Salman Rushdie, 17 August
Booker Prize-winning, Salman Rushdie, will appear livefrom his home in New York to offer searing insight into his new, unforgettablememoirKnife– a reflection on his attempted assassination in 2022.
Sarah Crossan, 21 August (School Event)
A special event for secondary school pupils as part of the Baillie Gifford Schools Programme, where Crossan will be discussing her historical-fictionnovelWhere the Heart Should Be.
Philippa Gregory, 22 August
In this eye-opening event, author of the much-loved, The Other Boleyn Girl, Philippa Gregory, will take a deep dive into the last 900 yearsof female history with her new non-fiction titleNormal Women.
Richard Osman, 24 August
Television icon and author of the wildly successful Thursday Murder Club series, Richard Osman, will discuss, for thefirst time, his new title We Solve Murders; the first book in his newmystery series.
Matt Haig, , 25 August
An exclusive pre-release event, Matt Haig, author of the international sensation,The Midnight Library, and mental health activist, will speak about his upcoming novel The Life Impossible.
