Following questions and comments, WDC Regeneration have provided the following information:
“I’ve seen a few comments on the CC Facebook asking why the wings changed?
“The open wing design was never the original. You can see on the image they were bolted on and were in a sorry state.
We found an original drawing in the archives so the Heron was returned to its original form.”
Lennox Herald has reported an FOI that says that some £254,000 has been spent on the fountain upgrade.
But a wee bird says that the £254,000 is actually going to end up at £450,000. Now if accurate that’s big big bucks at a time of huge cuts. Money well spent, value for money, or an obscene cost for cleaning up an old fountain.
