TELEVISION INVENTOR JOHN LOGIE BAIRD NOW JOHN LOGIE BIN ON HELENSBURGH SEAFRONT

By Lucy Ashton

John Logie Baird, inventor of television, may be Helensburgh’s most famous son.
But Argyll and Bute Council must have forgotten to tell their binmen.
The great man has now taken on the moniker of John Logie Bin.
Sandy Bravo was first to draw attention to the Baird Bin Boob.
He wrote on Facebook: “Hi, first post here, love Helensburgh, don’t live there but work close by, drive by every day to work and frequent days out there.
“Spent a small mortgage on some chips and ice cream on Saturday…so a major annoyance…why has someone in council approved the placing of big ugly black anti seagull bins around local beauty/important spots?
“For example, poor John Logie Baird’s statue has been dwarfed by a bin.
“The obelisk once was surrounded by beds of flowers, now, bins.
“Also. no Scottish Palm trees anymore since last ‘upgrade’.”
