ESSENTIAL OVERNIGHT RESURFACING ON A82

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is undertaking essential overnight resurfacing works on the northbound and southbound A82 Great Western Road, near Bowling, in two phases between Sunday 2nd June and Tuesday 25th June 2024:
- Phase 1: Resurfacing of the northbound A82 Great Western Road, between the A814 Bowling/Old Kilpatrick junction and Dunglass Roundabout, from Sunday 2nd June until Saturday 8th June. The work will be carried out using overnight full road closures between 10pm and 6am, each night, with additional lane closures on the southbound carriageway from 8pm each night. A signed diversion route will be in operation. This road will re-open as normal, each day, while this work is taking place. Access and exit to and from Dunglass Roundabout from Balloch and Bowling will be maintained throughout this work. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Sunday 9th June.
- Phase 2: Resurfacing of the southbound A82 Great Western Road, between the A898 off slip road and the A898 on slip road, from Thursday 13th June until Monday 24th June. The work will be carried out using overnight full road closures between 10pm and 6am, each night, with additional lane closures on the northbound carriageway from 8pm each night. A signed diversion route will be in operation. This road will re-open as normal, each day, while this work is taking place. Traffic management will be removed by 6am on Tuesday 25th June.

Dunglass roundabout will remain open while these schemes are taking place, with some overnight lane restrictions in place during the works. However, it will still be possible to access the communities at Bowling and Old Kilpatrick throughout.
Please note, the local roads through Bowling are not suitable for high-sided vehicles or HGVs, and these vehicles should only follow the standard diversion route as outlined on our website.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
Local access will be maintained to properties adjacent to the southbound A82 Great Western Road, under escort, while this route is closed.
Construction noise will occur during the works, however the noisier operations have been programmed such as to minimise disturbance. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may arise.
Diversion Information:
- Northbound: traffic from the A898 Erskine Bridge will be diverted to the southbound A82 Great Western Road to join the A810 Dumbarton Road and follow the diversion above to Kilbowie Roundabout to re-join the northbound A82.
- Northbound: traffic from the A82 will turn at Mountblow Road to return south on the A82 and take the A810 Dumbarton Road / Glasgow Road / Duntocher Road through Clydebank before joining the B8050 Baljaffray Road. From here, vehicles will travel north on the A809 Stockiemuir Road to the A811, north of Croftamie and continue southwest to re-join the northbound A82 Great Wester Road at Balloch.
- Southbound: Southbound traffic will join the A811 at Balloch and follow to turn right onto the A809 to Bearsden, continuing on Stockiemuir Road and turning right onto the A810 Duntocher Road and following to join the A82 southbound to turn at Kilbowie Roundabout and return north for Dumbarton and the Erskine Bridge.
Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable.
This scheme will benefit vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.
