HONOURS LIST: MBE FOR JOHN BEVERIDGE, Maid Of The Loch – Loch Lomond Steamship Company

Without the efforts of John and others the Maid would have been scrapped

Many congratulations are due to founder of Loch Lomond Steamship Company and former chairman of LLSC, John Beveridge, who has been awarded an MBE for paddle steamer preservation and charity in the honours list announced today.
As John said, “The honour is for the work I did on the Maid of the Loch, which was a wreck and sinking in the 1990s. Volunteers are still helping to restore it and the aim is that she will sail again on Loch Lomond.”  Indeed she will!
Current chairman, Iain Robertson said, “Without the efforts of John and others the Maid would have been scrapped. This honour acknowledges the importance of the part he played in saving the Maid and commencing work on her restoration.”
John is pictured above, in 2020, on the right along with Charles Inglis, our longest serving volunteer, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the founding of LLSC.
