An MP candidate has spent thousands of pounds posting more Facebook advertisements than any other Scottish election hopeful this year – including a fake AI image spreading an anti-immigration message.
Tommy Macpherson, PICTURED LEFT, an independent standing in Argyll, Bute and South Lochaber, which includes Helensburgh all the way north to Oban, has posted 197 ads – more than one per day since the start of 2024. Paid ads included posts claiming terrorists and criminals were crossing UK borders, and an AI-generated image of radicalised Palestinian men. Our research, assisted by the ad library of Meta, which owns Facebook, shows that Macpherson spent between £0 and £99 on each ad in the period from 1 January to 23 June 2024. Macpherson told The Ferret he had spent £2,300 on social media campaigning.

Racist Bastard.
Now, now James, he’s our racist bastard. We Scots like to think of ourselves as fair and decent but in truth there are many many many who are racist bastards.
Quite why many of us hate people from other countries I fail to understand. Would you reject treatment from a doctor because they are foreign. Of course we don’t have enough doctors because we don’t or can’t educate enough ourselves.
Anyway, where did MacPherson get all the money to place these ads. Who is bank rolling him. Maybe he should concentrate on the poor. After all, like all good Tories, are the poor not a drag on us all.
Yip, if you could see into the heads of some Scots you’d be shocked.
