Seagulls caused a stooshie in Helensburgh last week over a tray of bread that was allegedly left in the street by a delivery team at a local shop.
Helensburgh local Jim Chestnut took the picture above which sparked a few heated comments on social media.
Michelle Laura Cahill asked: “When was this taken? Guessing early hours of this morning?”
May Lennox-Milton posted: “Humans fault … get organised with your delivery, onus on shop to fix that.
“Humans put your food in the bins, teach your children , council empty the bins in the town regularly , especially seaside towns and people who do, stop throwing your McDonalds etc rubbish out of your car windows.
“Hope no birds were killed feeding off the bread , God’s creatures entitled to life , it’s up to humans to be clean and tidy and use your head to avoid food/scraps being left to encourage wildlife to where their not wanted. This is encouraging rats, I think.”
Davie Paterson sounded off: “I walked past there early this morning and the bread crate was in the doorway. Have the seagulls managed to pull it out into the street? It’s beyond me why these birds are protected!”
But Lisa Johnstone wasn’t having that. She wrote: “How is it the seagulls fault that Tesco left them a free buffet? I personally had a wee chuckle at the seagull sat at the top of the pole keeping an edgy
“Look seagulls are a pain in the **** especially when they start their noise at 4.30am!!!!”
On a sad note to end with, Claire Fletcher told Facebook: “Lots of dead birds on a bin near Ladbrokes the other day because exactly this happened, and drivers just kept hitting the birds. It was horrific.”
Nothing by comparison to the the seagulls that scavanged in the huge landfill site at Auchecarroch, beside Balloch.
