Piecemeal lock-up doors? No, I think we should have wooden ones!

We all know how much the bosses and councillors at West Dunbartonshire Council like a laugh. Now that made you smile, did it not?
This item took me back to the old Town Council meetings in the Municipal Buildings, where nothing much happens these days except that they cut the grass.
The councillors were discussing a project to have lock-up garages for the residents of what was then social housing in, I think it was the High Mains area.
Someone suggested that it should be extended to take in parts of Silverton. Inevitably, there was a disagreement between Labour and the Tories who, at that time, went under the guise of Independent Moderates.
The Labour councillor said this would be preferable to a “piecemeal” project.
All the work could be done by the same contractor, he said.
However, an Independent Moderate objected. Seriously, he told the meeting: “I don’t think we should have piecemeal doors at all. I think we should have wooden ones!”
Today’s councillors can be guilty of the odd slip-up, but laugh if you dare. A sense of humour is not one of their strong points.
The local councillors are even yet dealing with lock-ups, and so they have decided to consult you as to what kind you would like to see in West Dunbartonshire.
It’s taken this council’s penchant for surveys a little too far I fear and it indicates what people with too much time on their hands (and money to burn, our money no less) get up to, but here we go:
Take part in our consultation to give your views of our lockups across West Dunbartonshire!
We want to ensure our lock up facilities meet your needs and expectations. Whether you currently rent a lock up, are on our waiting list or are considering renting in the future, your thoughts and suggestions can help us identify areas for improvement.  This consultation will end Friday 23rd August.”
