In today’s author spotlight, we meet the brilliant Andrew O’Hagan. With an extensive list of impressive publications, nominations and awards, he’s one of the country’s most important writers, and we are so glad he will join us at this year’s festival.
Born and educated in the west of Scotland, his work is wide-ranging and uses both fiction and non-fiction to explore what it means to live in society today. Andrew’s latest book ‘Caledonian Road’ (https://www.theceltichouse.co.uk/shop/caledonian-road/) unpicks the privilege and corruptions of life in London, and tests the creaking foundations of the United Kingdom.

Andrew will open Islay Book Festival on Thursday 29th August, interviewed by BBC Scotland political editor Glenn Campbell, pictured above. There will also be music from Taylor Strickland and Alan Windram. Some tickets are still available for this event, so make sure to get yours from Ticket source here now: https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/islay-book-festival/t-eamkaza
