Greetings NUJ Glasgow branch members,
We hope you are keeping in good spirits and health.
As you may have learned, Ann Coltart, our friend and longstanding NUJ Glasgow Branch member died earlier in the month.
We’ve taken a little bit of time to let branch members know, to ensure Ann is remembered as fully as the life she lived, and to tend to our sadness.
Ann, pictured left, joined the NUJ in the early 1960s and since then she has been a member of many of the union’s councils and committees including the Equality Council, Disabled Members’ Council, Scottish Executive Council and 60+ Council.
Ann will be remembered with affection and sorrow across our branch, our union and the wider labour movement.
In line with her wishes, Ann will not be having a traditional funeral.
But please join us for a celebration of her life at the Rhoderick Dhu, 21-23 Waterloo St, Glasgow G2 6BZ, at 7pm on Friday 6th September. Please note, there is a private entrance to the function room and stairs to access.
If you have memories of Ann to share – photographs and stories of her, or articles and letters Ann wrote, please email these to: nujglasgowsecretary@gmail.com by Monday 26th August 2024.
We hope to have some of these included in a memorial booklet to be distributed on the night.
Ann had a fine selection of berets, if you have one please feel free to bring along and wear.
For catering purposes, please RSVP to: nujscotland@nuj.org.uk
We hope to celebrate Ann with you all at the Rhoderick Dhu on 6th September.
Sending care, kindness + solidarity,
layla-roxanne hill
