West Dunbartonshire Branch of Unison
West Dunbartonshire Branch of Unison was represented at a CRISIS SUMMIT around the topic of Social Work organised by UNISON Scotland ‘s Social Work Issues Group (SWiG)
In the morning session UNISON officially launched our;
– CHARTER OF DEMANDS
These lists of demands were created as a result of a nationwide consultation of social workers and para professionals about their practice experience
THANK YOU to the members in West Dunbartonshire who contributed to this
UNISON also produced a report outlining the damning responses received to a nationwide survey on the Case Management system of social work
The afternoon session was made up of a Q&A with representatives of the Scottish Government, Social Work Scotland, SSSC and CoSLA…..
The branch put a very simple question to all the panellists, which was set within a detailed context of the current issues facing workers in WD….
All the panellists agreed that change was required and a collective effort of all parties working together jointly would be required to achieve the kind of positive change we all want to see delivered.
With UNISON being by some considerable distance the largest trade union of social workers in Scotland, UNISON & our members will play a key role in leading this change for the better of the social work profession
The branch will be in touch soon with our members with more information on these documents referenced
