LETTER TO THE EDITOR

300 adults and kids at first ever Christmas tree switch on ‘ completely ignored’

It seems that for the past few months you couldn’t open a crisp poke without a Labour councillor turning up with the Ratners gold round their necks to pose like haddies as if they had actually done something.
Yet one of the biggest events Haldane has had with over 300 adults and kids at its first ever Christmas tree switch on last night, is completely ignored by these same councillors, not even acknowledging the event on their Facebook pages.
It seems that not only do they not want to hold surgeries in Haldane they don’t even want to acknowledge the brilliant community development work activists in Haldane do day in day out.
So I’ll acknowledge them here. Michael and Sarah Mcilmun worked themselves to a standstill getting this all arranged, sleepless nights, trying to get the tree and lights delivered and put in place, Tommy Miller’s fundraising has been something to behold.
Gary Mcmullen works behind the scenes constantly for Haldane not wanting even mentioned, better community activists you will be hard pushed to find and the people who walked passed and commented on what we are trying to achieve you’ve no idea how this boosts the moral.
So, thanks to everyone involved.  I think I can speak for the majority in Haldane “your work is appreciated” Drew MacEoghain, Haldane.
