Beamed into our TV panels, anchorman, John Mackay, is one of the best known faces on television in Scotland as the lead presenter of STV’s top rated news programmes.
Our associate, from a Hebridean background, the man with a collection of one thousand dress ties, John nearly didn’t make it onto TV.
On work experience at Radio Clyde the brutal assessment by the boss was he should try something else. “You’ve no got a voice for broadcasting son, so maybe forget it” he was told.
