Archdiocese of Glasgow
Once again we begin the year with the feast of St Mungo, but this year we are celebrating Glasgow 850, when Glasgow was designated a Bishop’s Burgh and received City status.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Vespers on Friday 10th January, at 7pm in St Andrew’s Metropolitan Cathedral.
Then on Saturday 11th January, 11.30 for 11.45
the life of Kentigern at the Mitchell Library, Granville Street.
The celebration of St Mungo will be in words and song, including a reading (in Latin and English) by Archbishop William Nolan (pictured top of page) and Rev Mark Johnstone, from a 12th century Life of St Mungo. This reading replicates the experience which took place every year in the Chapter House of the Cathedral on St Mungo’s Feast Day, 13 January.
The music includes the St Mungo’s singers and Let Glasgow Flourish – a very fitting legacy for St Mungo.
Sunday 12th January 4pm the Ecumenical Service celebrating the Feast of St Mungo and Glasgow 850, at Glasgow Cathedral in this special year it would be great if we could fill the church.
