Alexandria Community Council would like to express our disappointment in the announcement of the upcoming changes for the service number 1 route to take place from Sunday 2nd March 2025. The changes effectively ending a direct bus route from Alexandria to Glasgow and replacing them with 204 and 205 routes which will terminate at Dumbarton ASDA.
In a move described as “aiming at improving punctuality and enhancing local connections”, this move will do exactly the opposite with commuters requiring at least 2 buses to get to their destination and making their journey times unnecessarily longer. This will also affect regular workers, shoppers and hospital appointments who have been using the current service for many years on a regular basis. All we can envisage is inconvenience ahead for so many at a time where people are having other current issues to deal with.
We recommend a re-think and reversal of this decision.
