Help us to reduce medicines waste …

Help us to reduce medicines waste – please take our simple survey

Did you know that medicine waste costs NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde more than £100,000 to dispose of every day?

In a recent public survey carried out by NHSGGC one of the top areas of concern among the public was the volume of unused medicines that are destroyed.

Our aim is safer prescribing that reduces avoidable waste and empowers and involves people in decisions about their care, including their medicines.

Deprescribing is a term we use to describe the planned and supervised process of reducing or stopping the prescribing of medicines that might no longer be of benefit, or could even be causing harm.

Deprescribing is part of good prescribing and ensures patients are taking the most appropriate medication.

Our short survey asks about your own experience of receiving medicines, either for yourself or for a loved one if you are a carer, and your views and feelings about the principle of deprescribing.

Your feedback will help us to plan a series of engagement sessions with the public over the summer.

Thank you.
