Cameron Norrie is hoping to go one better than 2022, when he reached the semi-final of the men’s singles at Wimbledon.
He faces Nicola Jarry from Chile in a last 16 match on Sunday afternoon, as the last British man standing in the competition.
The British No.3 – born in South Africa and raised in New Zealand, he qualifies for Scotland through his Glaswegian father, David – has already guaranteed himself a prize of £240,000.
If he reaches the quarter-finals that will rise to £400,000, followed by a guaranteed £775,000 if he can make it to the last four. The losing finalist will pick up £1,520,000 and the winner pockets a cool £3m.

Norrie now lives in Monaco, with his girlfriend Louise Jacobi. She is often seen in the crowd at his matches.
Speaking after his epic Wimbledon quarter final victory over David Goffin in 2022, Louise said: “It was surreal. When your significant other is crying in front of you – like choking up – how could I keep a dry eye?
“I remember him saying when we first met: ‘Oh, my dream would be to be in the top 10.’ Back then I didn’t know it was going to transpire, and just watching his hard work pay off has been insane.”
The couple have reportedly been dating since 2000 and Norrie’s parents have praised Louise for the “calm, positive impact” she’s had on him.
