The roadsides around the Aughrus Peninsula near Cleggan in Connemara are looking really lovely now. Here’s just a small sample of what we all can see as we amble around the Peninsula. No wonder I miss the place so much. This was my holiday place for years, the Wee Red Hoose, where I stayed with my pal Owen King. It was here I first saw a cuckoo, heard a lark sing and listened to the creck of a corncrake. There was an otter sitting on a rock by the the lakeside. We drove cattle from there five miles in driving rain along the road to Clifden. Maybe West Dunbartonshire Council should take a lesson on what biodiversity is supposed to look like. Bill
