Driver banned over speeding on Loch Lomondside

By Democrat reporter

A man has been banned from driving for nearly two years after he hit speeds of up to 102mph near Loch Lomond.

The 28-year-old previously pleaded guilty to dangerously driving at excessive speeds, overtaking other drivers while speeding, failing to observe a police vehicle behind him, all with a passenger on board.

Polito, of Friarscourt Avenue, Glasgow, didn’t have the proper licence to ride a motorbike, nor insurance.

Sheriff John McElroy KC said during sentencing on August 12 at Dumbarton Sheriff Court that he had seen dashcam footage of the crime.

He noted that Polito hit speeds of between 80mph and 102mph, while a “fair few other people” were on the road.

The sheriff ordered him to do 90 hours of unpaid work in the community within a year.

He banned him from driving for 21 months and he must resit the extended test to be able to drive again.
