by Democrat reporter

Staff at HM Naval Base Clyde were encouraged to put their stamina and best witchy spells to the test when CLYROX returned to Clyde with a spooky twist.

Based on the global indoor fitness phenomenon HYROX, this year’s Halloween themed event pushed participants, dressed as Grim Reapers and famed serial killers to complete a one-kilometre run followed by a workout station.

Repeating the process eight times, Halloween-dressed participants were challenged with an overall gruelling eight kilometre run and eight functional workout stations.

The workout stations included a 1000m on the ski machine, 50m sled push, 50m sled pull, 80m burpees broad jumps, 1000m row, 200m farmers carry, 100m sandbag lunges, finishing off with100 wall balls.

As well as participants, the Sportsdrome staff also dressed up. Organiser and judge Leading Physical Trainer Shannon embraced the Halloween spirit dressed as the renowned Ghostface killer from the Scream movies.

Participants and spectators were spoilt for choice with a treat-filled bake sale. Home baking and various donations of sweet treats were up for sale with all proceeds being donated to the Helensburgh & District Branch of Enable.

The spooktacular event gave everyone the chance to have some fun, encouraging team spirit with prizes for the winners and a free t-shirt for everyone taking part.
