Naval Base Commander Clyde, Commodore Sharon Malkin ADC joined Helensburgh veterans, residents and dignitaries on Sunday, November 9, to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of their country. The Annual Remembrance Service took place in the Garden of Remembrance in Hermitage Park and was led by the Reverend George Hunter, Chaplain to the Forces (Volunteer) and the Reverend Sue MacGregor, Minister of Helensburgh Parish Church of Scotland. Organised by Helensburgh Community Council in conjunction with HMNB Clyde, West of Scotland Submariners Association and the Helensburgh & District Branch of The Royal British Legion Scotland, the service opened with those present on a stormy morning singing the Hymn Eternal Father, Strong to Save. Prayers and a Scripture Reading followed with The Last Post leading into a two-minute silence of reflection and gratitude.
