Congratulations to today’s Milestone achievers

Levengrove parkrun

Event Number 227 – 3rd January 2026
Tradition has it that the ideal “First-foot” should be tall and dark and Cameron Williams fitted the bill perfectly today as first to cross the Finish line in our first parkrun of the new year. He was followed by no less than 182 others who walked, jogged or ran round a bright and dry but bitterly cold Levengrove Park. Clearly that other New Year tradition of making (and more importantly, keeping) resolutions was also at play.
42 of that field were First-Timers, 9 of them completing their very first ever parkrun. Well done to all of them and welcome to the parkrun family. See our Graphic alongside for the Roll of Honour.
Our other First-Timers were parkrun Tourists, hailing from as far away as New Zealand, Australia and South Africa and, nearer home, from Glasgow. Pete featured in our photos below is a fellow Run / Event Director at Hamner Forrest parkrun in New Zealand.
One of the latter was Rowan Lennox, who marked her first visit to us with distinction as the leading Woman home. Remarkably still in the 11 – 14 Age Category, the Shettleston Harrier has 81 previous parkruns to her credit. Her time today was 22 mins and 4 secs.
Next Woman was Jane O’Donnell of Dundee Road Runners AC in 23:25, followed by Morag Campbell, Bellahouston Harriers, in 23:46. Morag is at the opposite end of the Age Categories from Rowan, 65 – 69, and as such merited today’s best Age Graded performance of 92.15%.
Cameron’s time at the head of the field was 19:08. Next came Douglas Laird of Helensburgh AAC in 10:12 and he was closely followed by first-time visitor Benjamin Dale in 19:16.
Leading Junior Man was Dean Andrews in 21:59.
Congratulations to today’s Milestone achievers, starting with Alison Johnston celebrating her 100th, 97 of which have been at Levengrove. Junior parkrunners get their first recognition after 10 parkruns so well done to Hayleigh Tait (15 – 17) on reaching that figure, all of them at Levengrove. Our very own Jim Hunter celebrated 350 volunteer credits last week however was too modest to let us know.
Well done Jim !
Our Prolific parkrunner of the week accolade is shared between first-time visitor Carole Boyle and Graham Gemmell, paying us a second visit, both now on a grand total 0f 393.
Our graphic alongside summarises all today’s action, impeccably delivered once again by Run Director Kirsty and today’s band of Hi-Vis Heroes. For a more in-depth look (highly recommended) details of those PB performers, First-Timers and a complete event history check out this week’s full results here: https://parkrun.org.uk/Levengrove/results/latestresults
If you’d like a wee shot at a Hi-Vis vest next week then either drop your name in the comments below or email us at levengrove@parkrun.com
Sharon will be the one in the RD vest so if you can fill either of the vacant Marshal spots or fancy a double credit (run and volunteer) as Tail Walker it would be greatly appreciated.
See you Saturday
