In 2019, this group of people didn’t know each other.
…but we had one thing in common:
we wanted to see parkrun come to Dumbarton, and we put our hands up to say we would help make it happen (even though some of us had no clue how to put on an event like this, thankfully others did!).
What started as a small group of strangers has grown, and evolved into a core team of committed volunteers with a strong bond.
Now, most Saturday mornings you’ll find us together in Levengrove Park.
Last night as many of the core team as could make it along went out to have a belated celebration to mark our 6th birthday.
Not everyone who has been there from the start was able to be with us (you know who you are, and you were missed) and many, many more of you have helped make Levengrove parkrun the amazing community and event that it is, so we raise a glass to all of you who’ve helped out (in wind, hail, rain and even the odd bit of sunshine) to say thank you for helping us make parkrun possible every week.
It’s been a pleasure to see so many people enjoy the benefits of being active in nature, and whether you’ve done no parkruns ever or 500+ all round the world, then we’ll welcome you equally to come and join us as a volunteer. Be part of this amazing group of volunteers and you’ll get more joy back from 1 hour of your time than you’d ever imagine.
