ROYAL NAVY SUBMARINERS SPEND TIME WITH FURRY FRIENDS

by Democrat reporter

Junior Rate Submariners from HMS Ambush supported the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) through a dedicated volunteer day at their Glasgow hub in Kinnell Place, Cardonald.

Personnel assisted Scottish SPCA staff with a variety of practical tasks, including cleaning, maintenance, other support duties as directed by the staff, and of course giving the furry pets lots of cuddles and care.

The volunteer day was organised and coordinated by Leading Engineering Technician (LET) Garner of the HMS Ambush Junior Rates Mess, who managed all arrangements with support of his Executive Officer (XO) Lieutenant Commander Bowles.

LET Garner said: “Our Junior Rates Mess wanted to give something back to the local community, and supporting the Scottish SPCA was the perfect opportunity.

“The Junior Rates worked hard throughout the day, and it was rewarding to know we were making a direct difference to the animals in their care.”

The purpose of the event was for the Junior Rates of HMS Ambush to support the Scottish SPCA through practical volunteer work, helping improve conditions for the animals in their care while strengthening community links.

In whole, the successful initiative highlighted the Royal Navy’s ongoing commitment to community engagement and demonstrated the willingness of HMS Ambush’s Junior Rates to contribute positively to local welfare organisations.
