A local man who subjected his partner to years of abuse has been banned from contacting her for three years.
The 47-year-old, right, who is a well known local bagpiper, repeatedly shouted, swore and uttered abusive remarks at the mother of their two young children.
He repeatedly threatened to phone and criticise her to her mother, and in September 2020 he seized her by the wrist and twisted her hand backwards.
MacPhee, of Glasgow Road, Dumbarton, further denigrated her ability as a mother, teacher and wife and repeatedly sent her abusive messages.
Sentence had been deferred for three months to allow MacPhee to show he could stay out of trouble and he returned to Dumbarton Sheriff Court on February 3 for a final sentence.
He was also ordered to stay away from his wife for a period of three years.
Defence solicitor Scott Adair said his client had issues with alcohol but these had “probably been addressed” by MacPhee.
The Sheriff ordered MacPhee to be placed on social work supervision for 18 months and that he must take any alcohol counselling or treatment.
Additionally, he was ordered to do 160 hours of unpaid work in the community within the next year.
