THE DUMBARTON DEMOCRAT IS ALIVE AND KICKING

Don’t believe all you read in the newspapers. Some of us journalists don’t even believe what we write in them. That is not so remarkable as it sounds because so many people in public life lie to us. Spin doctors are highly skilled in verisimilitude. Theirs is a dark art.

So, if you have read a piece by Hamish Mackay in the Scottish Review this week which states that The Dumbarton Democrat has shut down then treat it with a pinch of salt. It’s simply not true.

I did have a conversation with Hamish recently. He is getting old and is suffering from some of the unwelcome health issues that come with great age, so I forgive him. Unlike the way West Dunbartonshire Council has treated me, I won’t be banning him.

The Dumbarton Democrat is in fact doing better than ever. Recently more than 9,000 people read us in a single week. That figure fluctuates according to our content, and with all that’s happening in the world at present it’s probably the best read local publication in West Dunbartonshire. Much higher than the Lennox Herald, the Dumbarton Reporter and the Helensburgh Advertiser, all of which have closed their local offices.

Remember, we have an election coming along on May 7. If you are looking for the truth in the news then stay with us at democratonline.net

We are open, we are honest, we are independent and completely FREE to access.

And we are not going anywhere.
